Alberto Cabale

Marquis Alberto Cabale of Piedmont was born on March 12, 1914 in Turin. Living in the family palace in the Piedmontese capital, he grew up in the world of the Turin aristocracy.

As for his studies, he was attracted by economics. He studied in Milan where he obtained a doctorate in economics in 1937. From an early age, it is not uncommon to see him making sewing sketches. But under family pressure, he joined the Italian army at the end of his studies in 1938. First bomber, he became captain during the Second World War.

Alberto was decorated for bravery at the end of the war.

From the army to fashion :

Alongside his military career, Alberto Cabale is also a fashion designer. He made clothes, especially street clothes, in his early years of university, he designed models for his friends and for himself.
He distinguished himself by creating the ready-to-wear line of the Italian Olympic team. But it was in 1947 that his career changed. On the front page of Vogue magazine, Cecil Beaton photographed a friend of Alberto Cabale during a vernissage in the Parisian capital. The magazine's editor-in-chief immediately asked him to design a series of clothes and accessories for a fashion shoot.
He then received numerous offers that pushed him to create his own brand. In 1948, he opened his own house in Capri.

The years 1950-1960: The consecration

His style is intended for a rich and late clientele. His first collection met with considerable success in the jet-set milieu. He was helped in particular by his influential knowledge of the Turin aristocracy in an environment where worldliness was essential. In 1950, Alberto Cabal received two prestigious awards, which marked his international consecration.
The designer is convinced that true elegance is based on clothes in which one feels good. That's why he invents new cuts, develops different finishing techniques and controls every step of the production process.
